General description
Crystals of potassium carbonate sesquihydrate belong to the monoclinic crystal system and space group C2/c.
Application
Potassium carbonate sesquihydrate can be used as a sorbent for the removal of CO2 from flue gas in precombustion process. It may be employed as a base in the cross-coupling of benzene boronic acid with benzoyl chloride in the presence of deposited Pd catalysts to give benzophenone.
It may also be used as one of the reaction components in the preparation of:
- 1,2,3-triethylimidazolium
- 1,2,3-triethyl-4-methylimidazolium
- 2-ethyl-1,3,4-trimethylimidazolium
