• Synthesis of phenoxyacetic acid.

Phenol may be used in the following processes:

• As a phase-transfer catalyst in electrolyte solutions of lithium-O₂ battery to promote solution phase discharge.
• Preparation of phenol-sulfuric acid reagent for colorimetric determination of total sugar content.
