Cyclophosphamide monohydrate is an alkylating, antineoplastic agent, which is converted in the body to an active alkylating metabolite (4-hydroxycyclophosphamide). It possesses immunosuppressant properties. Cyclophosphamide monohydrate used for induction chemotherapy to study predictive and prognostic values of tumor MGMT gene expression, to study its effects on apoptosis and cell cycle progression and its cardiotoxicity during pretransplant conditioning in blood stem cell transplantation has been reported. Cyclophosphamide is a cytotoxic nitrogen mustard derivative widely used in cancer chemotherapy. It cross-links DNA, causes strand breakage, and induces mutations. Its clinical activity is associated with a decrease in aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1) activity.
