Cell Line Description
Isolated by Dr Hayden Coon. Flat epithelial cell colonies that appear upon low density plating as suspensions of collagenase dissociated buffalo rat liver. Cell origin not clearly defined.
Application
Feeder cells for co-culture with freshly isolated hepatocytes.
Culture Medium
Coon′s modified Ham′s F12 + 2mM Glutamine + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS) or Kaign′s modified Ham′s F12 + 45mg/L ascorbic acid + 18mg/L Inositol + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS) + 2mM Glutamine.
Subculture Routine
Spit confluent cultures 1:100 i.e. seeding at 1x1,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
