General description
Human BAFF (B-cell activating factor belonging to the TNF family) is a novel ligand in the TNF family. BAFF plays an important role as co-stimulator of B-cell proliferation and function. Recombinant human BAFF is a soluble 17.0 kDa protein containing 153 amino acid residues, comprising the TNF-like extracellular domain of BAFF.
Product Source: E.coli
Physical form
Lyophilized from sterile filtered 0.5X PBS, pH 7.5, and 0.5 mM DTT, containing no additives.
Storage and Stability
The lyophilized powder is stable for a few weeks at room temperature, but best stored at -20°C for up to one year from date of receipt. Reconstituted material can be stored at 2°-8°C for one week, but undiluted aliquots at -20°C are recommended. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Analysis Note
Specific Activity: Human BAFF is biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50 as determined by its dose-dependent mitogenic activity on human RPMI 8226 cells is 5-10 ng/mL.
