Antipain, Dihydrochloride is a reversible protease inhibitor produced by actinomycetes. Antipain inhibits cathepsin A, B, and D as well as papain, trypsin and trypsin-like serine proteases. Antipain acts by forming a hemiacetal adduct between the aldehyde group of the inhibitor and the active proteinase. Effective at concentrations range from 1 to 100 μM.
