M17 broth is based on the formulation described by Terzaghi and Sandine (1) for the cultivation and enumeration of lactic Streptococci and their bacteriophages. M17 Broth is a modification of M16 Medium (2).

ITC broth base (TTC broth Base) is used for selective enrichment and enumeration of Yersinia enterocolitica as per APHA. This media formulated in accordance with APHA and is recommended by ISO Committee as a selective enrichment medium for Y.

Plate Count Agar originally formulated by Buchbinder et al (1) which is recommended by APHA (2,3,4) FDA (5) and ISO committee (6). Present formulation is recommended by BIS (7) for enumeration of microorganisms in food, water and wastewater.
